Zhangjiang Tech Park
Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park founded in July 1992, is located in the middle part of Pudong New Area with a planned area of 42.117 square kilometers, comprising Technical Innovation Zone, Hi-Tech Industry Zone, Scientific Research and Education Zone, and Residential Zone. In August 1999, Shanghai Municipal Committee and Municipal Government made the strategy of “Focus on Zhangjiang” and identified the IC industry, software industry, biomedicine as the leading industries of the Park to play a leading role in innovation.
By the end of 2005, the park has introduced totally 4297 new enterprises, attracted foreign investment 13.748 billion USD and a fixed asset investment 69.514 billion RMB, registered 91 R&D centers of transnational enterprises, applied for 4,032 items of patent (833 of them granted).
A number of national industry bases including Shanghai National Biomedical Industry Base, National Information Industry Base, National Integrated Circuit Industry Base, Semiconductor Lighting Industrial Base, National 863 Project China Eastern Information Security Industry Park (CEISIP), National Software Industry Base, National Software Export Base, National Culture Industry Example Base, and National Network Game and Animation Industry Base have been established at the Park so far.
